Florida Man Holding Infant Jumps from Fire

The father jumped to a neighboring building, with an infant in his arms, and waited to be rescued by firefighters.

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. --

A South Beach man was forced to jump to safety this morning after fire broke out in an apartment building.

The fire broke out in a third-floor unit of the building, located at 1552 Washington Ave.

The father jumped to a neighboring building, with an infant in his arms, and waited to be rescued by firefighters. A woman was also rescued from the smoky building by firefighters.

Residents said they were awoken by Miami Beach police to find the halls filled with smoke.

Two cats were given oxygen by paramedics.

All 24 units inside the building are damaged. The Red Cross has been called.
