Several firefighters in Caldwell County were busy early Saturday morning responding to two fires in the county.
The first one happened around 2 AM Saturday morning in the town of Hudson at the Sealed Air Plant. Investigators believe the fire started when static electricity caught foam packaging material on fire. Employees inside the plant used fire extinguishers to put out the flames. Firefighters say the plant's sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading. One employee was taken to the hospital with 1st and 2nd degree burns to his arm.
Firefighters in Valdese responded to an apartment fire at the Shah-Khan Apartments on Sterling Street just before 4 AM. Two people living in the units were hospitalized with smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
