Firefighters are on the scene of a house fire in west Louisville.
The fire broke out Friday near the intersection of 23rd Street and Grand Avenue.
The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at about 3:30 p.m., but WLKY reported the fire appeared to be under control at about 3:45 p.m.
Fire officials said a young girl had been cooking an after-school snack on a stove when she left the room.
She told fire investigators that when she returned, she found the kitchen engulfed in flames.
The girl was able to escape unharmaned, and there were no other people inside the home when the fire began, authorities said.
According to WLKY, the girl live at the home with her mother and three siblings, who are being aided by the Red Cross in the aftermath of the fire.
