(January 6) -- Richmond Fire Chief Robert A. Creecy announced the death of veteran firefighter Jerry W. Hall.
Chief Creecy said Firefighter Hall faithfully served as a member of the Richmond Department of Fire and Emergency Services for over 35 years.
Firefighter Hall was on his way to work Friday when he experienced a medical emergency. Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded and he was transported to Chippenham Hospital where he died a short time later.
Jerry Wayne Hall was 62, he resided in Chesterfield. He was a native of Pulaski, Va.
Hall is survived by his wife, Diane Hayes Hall; son, Jeffrey Wayne Hall; daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Lorraine and W. Stuart Spencer Jr.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert C. and Dottie Hall, L. Michael and Dinah Hall; niece, Mallory Hall. Mr. Hall, a firefighter with the City of Richmond for over 35 years, as well as a U.S. Air Force Vietnam veteran and a member of Belmont United Methodist Church.
His family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the Morrissett Funeral Home, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rt. 10). Funeral information later. Chesterfield Fire Department personnel responded and he was transported to Chippenham Hospital where he died a short time later. While funeral arrangements are forthcoming, the family has requested that all donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association in lieu of flowers.
