Civilian Hit by North Carolina Firefighter

A person walking on a Gaston County road was hit by a volunteer firefighter who was on his way to a wreck.

GASTON CO., N.C. --

A person walking on a Gaston County road was hit by a volunteer firefighter who was on his way to a wreck.

Authorities said it happened just after midnight Wednesday on Crowders Creek Road off of U.S. 21.

According to troopers, the person stepped out in front of the truck.

That person was airlifted to Carolina's Medical Center. Troopers said the victim may have broken bones, but is expected to be OK.
