Fire crews found the two-story house engulfed in flames.

Fire left a Big Island family homeless Tuesday. Flames burned their house in Pahoa to the ground early in the morning.

Fire crews found the two-story house on Kumuloulu Street engulfed in flames just before 1 a.m.

There were no fire hydrants at the house and water had to be shuttled in to fight the blaze, fire officials said.

There were two people home at the time of the fire. They got out safely.

The Red Cross is helping the family with food and shelter.

Investigators are trying to determine what started the fire.
