Smoker Blamed For Abandoned Texas Warehouse Fire

Investigators said they believe homeless people were using the warehouse for shelter.

Arson investigators suspect a smoker started a fire at an east Houston warehouse Tuesday morning.

Authorities said a pile of trash and mattresses caught on fire at an abandoned warehouse on the East Freeway near Falcon Street at about 12:45 a.m.

A discarded cigarette is believed to have caused the blaze.

Investigators said they believe homeless people were using the warehouse for shelter.
