PITCAIRN, Pa. --

A volunteer firefighter in Pitcairn is accused of setting two fires and is now at the Allegheny County Jail.

Investigators arrested James Cole, 19, at a fire on Broadway Street.

Someone reported suspicious activity in an area behind the building and police then spotted Cole.

Cole lives in that building with his father.

It was the second trash can fire that day.

A friend gave Cole an alibi.

"He's not that kind of a person," said Randy Myers. "He was in my apartment all night."

George Burkhardt with Pitcairn Pitcairn Fire Department No. 2 issued a statement saying, "James Cole has only been with the fire department for one month, so as far as we're concerned, he isn't really part of the station. "

Cole faces several charges including recklessly endangering another person, risking catastrophe, and arson.

He was taken for a psychiatric evaluation before being transported to Allegheny County Jail.
