Teaneck firefighters have been told to remove stickers, even the ones in memory of 9/11, from their helmets.

Township Manager Helene Fall says personal adornments aren't allowed on township property, and that Teneck policy says employees can't wear anything that might be considered offensive.

The only exception: an American flag sticker that the township provided.

Teaneck fire officers union president Mike Hunter tells The Record of Bergen County the order is ridiculous. Many of the town's firefighters helped search through debris at Ground Zero after the terrorist attacks.
