Three people died in a house fire Friday morning on the city's West Side.
Fire officials said that the youngest victim was a 5-year-old girl, a student at Mary Holland Elementary, and the oldest was 55 years old.
Three other people were also in the home at the time. One of them was injured and was transported to Wilford Hall Medical Center in an undetermined condition.
One of the survivors told fire officials that a space heater was left on in the kitchen when the fire broke out at 4:30 a.m. in the 7300 block of Westshire.
Fire officials said that there were no working smoke detectors in the home.
Burglar bars also hampered efforts by firefighters to battle the blaze.
