OXON HILL, Md. --

A teen was killed in a house fire in Oxon Hill on Friday morning, News4's Tracee Wilkins reported.

Firefighters pulled the 13-year-old boy from the burning home in the 100 block of South Huron Drive.

CPR was performed on the teen, who attends Oxon Hill Middle School, and he was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials said the fire started in the basement. The teen was in an upstairs bathroom getting ready for school.

The cause of the blaze is still being investigated.
