Iowa Town in Turmoil Over Department Control
Norwalk residents who were expecting to discuss changes for the city's fire department Thursday night got fired up when they found out the issue had been taken off the agenda.
Last week, Norwalk Assistant Fire Chief Michael Wenger was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and prescription drugs for which he didn't have a prescription.
The city hasn't had a fire chief since Tom Fleming was fired last year.
At the City Council meeting, many residents spoke out during the open forum.
They are upset because the police chief has now been put in charge of the fire department.
A representative of the Norwalk Firefighters Association requested the issue be put back on the agenda for the next City Council meeting.
