The Kettering firefighters will be delivering presents to needy children

The time to complete the holiday shopping list is getting close, but for some families in the area, the holidays are a time of sadness because they cannot afford gifts for their children.

That is where the Kettering Firefighters come in to help. Firefighters and their families, along with some Kettering city officials pulled out the scissors and tape to wrap gifts.

The presents will be delivered Tuesday so children will have them on Sunday.

The Christmas spirit was in the air as the firefighters and their families wrapped the gifts that they hope will brighten the lives of some Kettering children.

Ketterings mayor said she only has two weeks left in office, and what a way to got out. Marilou Smith said. I love to see all the gifts the children are getting. I see things Ive never seen before, and its a great thing the firefighters are doing.

The firefighters also made Santa stops to 43 children with a parent serving with the Kettering-based National Guard unit that has been deployed.
