Pregnant Women Alerts North Carolina Neighbors to Fire

Crystal Miller, who is nine months pregnant, woke up when she smelled smoke in her apartment. After making sure her Christmas tree was not on fire, she went outside and woke up her neighbors and got them all out safely.
A fire broke out in an Uptown Charlotte apartment complex around 5:40 Sunday morning. It happened at Orchard Park Apartments on North Clarkson Street in Uptown Charlotte. Crystal Miller, who is nine months pregnant, woke up when she smelled smoke in her apartment. After making sure her Christmas tree was not on fire, she went outside and woke up her neighbors and got them all out safely. 27 firefighters were on the scene and quickly had the fire under control. 18 children and 11 adults were evacuated. They are being helped by the Red Cross. Firefighters say most of the damage was from smoke. The cause of the fire hasn't been released.
