ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A dramatic fire broke out Wednesday at an auto parts yard just off Edith Avenue between Osuna and Montano streets.

Fire crews ended up piecing together more than 1,000 feet of hose to knock down the blaze, which at times leapt 60 feet into the air.

Firefighters said it's likely the fire burned hot enough to snap metal and maybe pop tires at the M&M auto parts yard.

Just to the west of the fire, train dispatchers shut down the tracks where the Rail Runner makes its daily commute.

The fire was put out in less than an hour, and both firefighters and onlookers escaped without injury.
