BOSTON --

Hot weather forced fire officials to call four alarms at a diner in Allston early Tuesday evening after two firefighters succumbed to heat-related injuries.

The fire erupted in the basement of the Grecian Yearning Diner on Harvard Street near Commonwealth Avenue at about 5:30 p.m., NewsCenter 5 reported.

The injured firefighters were transported to an area hospital and they are expected to be OK.

A cause of the blaze remains under investigation and the restaurant is expected to remain closed through the evening. The fire badly damaged the restaurant and adjacent businesses.

Fire investigators continue to comb over the scene and have not yet released the extent of the damage.
