Officials said three children -- two girls and one boy -- and one man are confirmed dead after the fire destroyed an upstairs apartment at the Pine Ridge Apartments near Northwest 63rd and Rockwell. The children's mother injured her leg when she jumped out of a window.
Firefighters found Tyreek Stevenson, 5, and Leroy Tobler, age unknown, dead in an apartment unit that was engulfed in flames, according to Oklahoma City Fire Maj. Brian Stanaland.
Taneisha Stevenson, 7, was taken to a local hospital where she also died and Kameisha Stevenson, 10, was hospitalized before dying early Friday afternoon, Stanaland said.
The children's mother, Lakenya Stevenson, 28, injured her leg when she jumped from a window of the second-floor apartment.
Officials said eight units were either burned or damaged.
"Me and my friend (were) coming back from a friend's house and we smelled smoke, ran down here as fast as we could. All I saw was flames," said neighbor David Belcher.
Investigators said there is no word on a cause right now, but investigators are searching for clues. Officials said the fire does not appear to be suspicious and was likely an accident.
A memorial fund has been established for the Stevenson family at Bank of America.
