DENVER --
Denver fire investigators are looking into early-morning fires at two churches within two blocks of one another and a suspect is in custody.
The first fire was reported at about 3:41 a.m. at Rocky Mountain Miracle Center, 1939 S. Monroe Street. A shed at the back of the church was fully involved when firefighters arrived.
The second fire was reported at The Church In Denver at about 5:45 a.m. The church is located at 1900 South Cook Street. The church sustained heavy damage and firefighters had to cut a hole in the roof to vent the smoke.
Both fires were believed to be intentionally set.
A woman jogging in the area saw a man walking with a gasoline can after the second fire. She yelled for a neighbor to call police. The woman told 7NEWS the man was carrying a drink in one hand and a gas can in the other.
He was in custody before firefighters had the second church fire out.
No damage estimate for either fire has been determined.
