KANNAPOLIS, N.C. --

Firefighters responded to a four-alarm fire at a Kannapolis business building that has been around for more than 50 years. Fire officials said the blaze started just after 3 a.m. Friday at Moss & Moore Heating and Air. That business is located off South Main Street. That street was blocked off between Rogers Lake and Universal Street while firefighters worked to put out the flames. Norfolk Southern Railroad also shut down the railroad line through Kannapolis because of the fire.

During the fire, a code red was called out to alert firefighters that flames were picking up and all firefighters must get out of the building. One Eyewitness News photographer described the flames and smoke as intense. The back part of the building collapsed during the fire.

Eyewitness News learned that the owners of the business have been at the location since 1950. Seven employees work at the company. There have been no reports of injuries.
