Ohio Firefighter Injured While Fighting House Fire

The firefighter fell off the roof after slipping on ice.

A firefighter was treated for minor injuries after an accident while fighting a Hamilton Township house fire Wednesday morning.

A fire chief said firefighters were sent to a home on State Route 48 just before 5 a.m. A fire apparently started in the basement, ran up the outside of the house and got into the attic.

The homeowners smelled smoke and left the home. Fire officials said the smoke detectors didn't go off because the fire was above them.

The fire was brought under control quickly, but a firefighter fell off the roof after slipping on ice.

The firefighter was transported to a hospital to be examined, where he was treated and released.

Damage to the home was estimated at $60,000. The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.
