18-Wheeler Catches Fire on Houston Freeway

Houston firefighters quickly doused the flames.

HOUSTON --

An 18-wheeler caught fire on a west Houston freeway on Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Plumes of black smoke started coming from under the rear of the trailer as it was driven along the Katy Freeway near Washington Avenue shortly before 3 a.m.

Houston firefighters quickly doused the flames.

The driver was not injured.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but police said the brakes may have locked up.
