Firefighters battled a blaze at a gift shop in Oviedo Monday morning.
It happened at Flickering Lights, a candle and bath gift shop in the 50 block of Broadway, WESH 2 News reported.
Firefighters learned about the fire when someone knocked on the fire station door on state Road 434 at about 5:20 a.m., about two blocks from the gift shop. The Oviedo Fire Department quickly responded and firefighters found black smoke when they arrived.
"Our investigators will spend a good part of this morning investigating this structure to determine what the cause and the origin was," said Chief Lars White.
He said the tenants are usually very good about extinguishing candles before leaving the store, so he didn't want to speculate on the cause. He said the building is one-story and black smoke was pouring out of the roof when they arrived.
"It's not uncommon for buildings of this age, or any building, to produce that type of environment. Our firefighters are very careful not to enter until it was safe to do so," White said.
No injuries were reported. Officials said the building's contents are a complete loss, but the building itself might be salvageable.
The store's owners said they did not have insurance.
