A fire has killed two Benton County children.

Officials said the fire was reported just after midnight on Tuesday at a home in Sulphur Springs. Crews said that when they arrived, the two children had already died.

Their mother was hurt trying to rescue them, according to officials. She was airlifted to a local hospital. The home was completely destroyed.

Firefighters said the house did not have working smoke alarms. They said they weren't sure how the fire started.
