Five people were left homeless.

MOUNT LEBANON, Pa. --

An overnight fire forced a family out of its home in Mount Lebanon.

Investigators said the flames started in a basement and spread to the first floor shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday in a home at the intersection of Sieaforth and Layton avenues.

Flames were intense as firefighters from Mount Lebanon, Dormont, Bethel Park and Castle Shannon arrived at the scene.

A man in his 50s suffered burns and was taken to a local hospital. His name and condition are not known.

The blaze left two adults and three teenage girls homeless.

Officials said the fire is not suspicious, but is under investigation.
