Top Secret Work Stops Massachusetts Firefighters

Emergency crews in Salem responded to a fire at a chemical lab on Congress Street Monday night. Officials said the Perkin Elmer Lab handles some top secret government work, which prevented even firefighters from gaining access to the entire building. Damage from the small fire is being estimated at $100,000. The cause is under investigation. Hazardous-material crews were on hand in case anyone was exposed to the chemicals.
