Turkey Fryer Sparks Colorado House Fire
A turkey fryer is being blamed for a large fire that tore through a home in Adams County Monday evening.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Firefighters said that a resident of the home was trying to fry a turkey on his deck but the fryer was placed less than a foot away from the home. Flames quickly leapt from the fryer to the siding and to the inside of the home.
Damage to the home is estimated at more than $150,000.
The fire started about 5:25 p.m. and was extinguished about a half-hour later.
The home is located at 112th and Jamaica, just northwest of Interstate 76 and east Interstate 85, 7NEWS reported.
The living room and second floor of the home were the most badly damaged, firefighters with South Adams County Fire Marshals said.
The six people who live in the home are now displaced.
