Wisconsin Firefighters Battle 3-Alarm Blaze

A person was seen being dragged from the building.
Two people are in critical condition following a three-alarm fire in a three-story apartment building at 23rd Street and Highland Avenue in Milwaukee. The Milwaukee Fire Department said it got the call at 2:57 p.m. Tuesday. A firefighter at the scene said the fire started on the first floor. Residents told 12 News reporter Chloe Morroni it may have been caused by a stove. According to the Milwaukee Fire Department, three people were found inside the building. Two were not breathing. They are now in critical condition at an area hospital. The fire department said a woman was found hiding in a closet and a man was found on the bed. The third person found inside was concious. According to the fire department said four people were also rescued from the fourth and fifth floors through windows. There are no fatalities at this time. The fire department said it took firefighters about 20 minutes to get the fire under of control after they resecued the people. Classes were just getting out at the Milwaukee High School of the Arts, which is nearby and had to reroute its buses. Morroni will have live reports during "12 News at 5:00 and 6:00."
