Michael Scholeck of the 500 block of High Street was charged with arson and criminal mischief in connection with the Aug. 22 incident near his apartment, according to the criminal complaint filed by Pottstown police.
Scholeck was released on $15,000 unsecured bail following his arraignment, according to court documents.
Phillies Fire Chief Joe Groff said Scholeck was a volunteer member of the company for about six months and has since been asked to leave the organization.
