Brazen Burglars Steal From Houston Firefighters

At least four of 15 fire departments in southeast Houston have been hit.

While Houston firefighters fight fires and save lives and property, brazen thieves have burglarized several southeast Houston fire stations, KPRC Local 2 reported on Monday.

At least four of 15 fire departments in southeast Houston have been hit. Thieves have targeted Fire Station No. 25 on Cullen Boulevard near Wheeler Street three times.

Investigators said the thieves take anything they can -- electronics, cell phones, cash and station equipment such as uniforms and badges.

Officials with the Houston Fire Department said the thieves might be deliberately setting fires in order to get the firefighters out of the stations.

"It could compromise the safety, not only of the firefighters, but citizens, so that's the main thing we're really concerned about right now," HFD spokesman Rick Flanagan said.

So far, no arrests have been made.
