On November 8, 2005 the Crete Fire & Rescue Department honored Alvin "Rosey" Rozdalovsky for 60 years service to the City of Crete Nebraska. The department held and open house on Tuesday November 8th to Honor this volunteer.
Present were many retired members of the department who served with Rosey along with all current members of the department. Also in attendance were members of the City Council and other dignitaries from the County.
During the Open House several letters including a letter from Vice President Cheney were read along with other cards of congratulations.
Rosey has held many positions within the department, starting with in First Aid Forman in 1950 to Assistant Chief (1956-58) Chief (1959-67) then again in Assistant Chief (1974 -75 and Chief in 1976. When the department decided to take over the rescue service in Crete Rosey was one of the 1st Volunteer Fire Fighters to be certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
When Rosey joined the department on November 13, 1945 the department answered about 35 calls a year now with the department responding to over 550 calls for service, per Rosey is still answering over 65% of the calls.
For Rosey's many years of dedicated service he was presented a Leather Chief's helmet along with many other gifts from local businesses and organizations.
