Nine Ohio Fire Departments Battle Brush Blaze

Firefighters from nine departments were called to battle a blaze started in leaves and brush in Willoughby Hills Sunday.

The four-alarm fire broke out at about 6 a.m., NewsChannel5 reported.

Firefighters were worried about the wind spreading the flames to a nearby neighborhood. However, officials said the homes were never in jeopardy.

The fire was kept 400 to 500 feet from the residential properties, officials said. Six acres were destroyed.

Firefighters from Kirtland, Gates Mills, Willoughby, Willowick, Concord Township and Eastlake were among those who responded to the scene. It took crews an hour to get the fire under control.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
