Sixteen fire companies helped battle flames and thick smoke.
More than 100 people were forced out of their homes because of a massive fire in Butler County. Sixteen fire companies and 100 firefighters fought the thick black smoke and flames at the Concordia New Haven Apartments in Cabot. Officials said the flames overtook the attic, eventually collapsing it onto the third-floor apartments. Many of the people who lived there are retirees. Blanche Sziraki said, Everybody was calm. We had very good work. Everybody did cooperate. Firefighters said by the time they got to the scene, the building was already beyond saving. They also said it could be days before they can determine the cause. No one was hurt.
