Fire broke out a northeast Harris County middle school Sunday night, damaging one portable building, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Firefighters said flames broke out at about 11 p.m. inside a portable building at Hambrick Middle School on Aldine Mail Road near JFK Boulevard.

Witness Octavio Cabrera called 911 after he saw smoke rising from the building.

"We got close to see if we could get in to see if we could let some of the smoke come out, but we couldn't get in," Octavio Cabrera said.

Classes have not been canceled. Students who have class in the damaged building will have class in another room of the school.

None of the other portable buildings or the main campus was damaged in the fire.

Authorities have not determined what caused the fire, but officials told KPRC Local 2 that the damage was not serious.

Investigators with the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office do not believe the flames were suspicious and that an electrical problem may be to blame.
