Texas Man, Dog Escape Fire

EL PASO, Texas --

El Paso fire crews were on the scene a fire in east El Paso.

According to fire crews, the home caught on fire at around 6:30 p.m. Monday night.

When firefighters got there, they saw smoke coming from the roof of the home at 2417 Alan Duncan.

A total of 11 fire units were at the fire. The fire was put out in about 15 minutes.

One person was home when the fire broke out. He made it out safely with his dog, but as for the home, it has major damage.

"There is a lot of structural damage. A lot of dry wall damage but the home is not a total loss," said Rusty Hall from the El Paso Fire Department .

Fire officials don't know the cause of the fire and don't have a damage estimate yet.

Fire crews are still making sure there are no hot spots in the house before they start their investigation.
