After Dispute With Cops, Two Texas Fire Officials Questioned
A dispute between Socorro police and firefighters lands the fire chief and a lieutenant in trouble with the law.
According to officers at the scene, fire and police units responded to a house fire at the intersection of Rio Vista and Parker Drive just before 5:30 Tuesday evening.
While firefighters were inside the house police received information it could be arson and asked firefighters to leave the home even though hot spots were still present.
The fire chief ordered his crew to keep fighting the fire so the police chief detained the fire chief for questioning, he was later released, but a fire department lieutenant was also taken to the Socorro police station for questioning.
Socorro police say they plan to hold a press conference one week from Tuesday night to explain the incident.
