North Carolina Firefighter Injured in Collapse

At least one firefighter was taken to the hospital after a wall collapsed inside the building.

TOBACCOVILLE, N.C. --

Forsyth County Fire dispatchers said crews were dispatched to a fire at the Tabernacle United Methodist Church on Kenleigh Forest Road in Tobaccoville around 6:55 a.m. Sunday.

At least one firefighter was taken to the hospital after a wall collapsed inside the building.

Pastor David Spaulding tells WXII 12 News that the injured firefighter was released from the hospital Sunday afternoon.

Crews from six departments responded to the scene.

The church was built in 1885.

Church leaders said they plan to rebuild.
