Fire officials said arson was to blame for a blaze that severely damaged a home late Wednesday night in the 3000 block of South Taft Avenue.

One person was arrested in connection with the blaze. Further information about that person was not immediately available.

Investigators said live ammunition inside the home began discharging during the fire. Crews were forced to pull back for a while before they could go in again and douse the flames.

Decatur Township Fire Chief Dale Henson said information quickly led to an arson arrest.

"We got a lady who lives here saying, 'I know who started the fire,' and it's credible information," Henson said. "Through the fast action of our investigators and the Marion County Sheriff's Department, we've been able to make an arrest already."

The fire began in a converted room over the garage. No one was in the home, but one firefighter was burned on the arm, Henson said.
