Tractor Trailer Versus Passenger Car in Virginia MVA

The dispatch was issued at 12:38 hours, Tuesday, October 8. It stated victims were trapped in a MVA involving a vehicle and a tractor-trailer, Albemarle County and City of Charlottesville Rescue teams responded to the challenge.

Both vehicles, a Saturn and a tractor-trailer, were traveling west bound on I-64 when the accident occurred.

"The Saturn attempted to cross both lanes of traffic to use a median crossover," said Captain Jason Nauman of Albemarle Fire and Rescue. "The Saturn then cut off the tractor trailer which was hauling wood chips. The tractor trailer tried to swerve to avoid impact with the car and instead both collided and the tractor trailer landed on top of the car in the median of I-64."
