Two Texas Firefighters Accused Of Setting Business On Fire
Video: Volunteer Firefighters Arrested On Arson Charges
Two firefighters have been charged with arson, accused of setting fire to a north Harris County business, KPRC Local 2 reported in an exclusive story Thursday.
Former Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department firefighters Andrew McNeill, 19, and Robert Thacker have confessed to several counts of arson, authorities said.
NcNeill, who worked at Station 11, confessed to setting at least four grass fires out of anger.
Thacker, from Station 6, admitted he started a fire at Day Chemical in the 14000 block of Westfair Drive and a carpet business on Eldridge Parkway. He told investigators during his confession that he set the fire after he did not like the tip he received from a part-time job he works delivering food. The fire caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage.
Investigators said another reason Thacker started fires was that he was bored as a volunteer firefighter not responding to enough fires.
Thacker and McNeill were both charged with two counts of arson..
If convicted, they could face two to 20 years behind bars for each count.
