Massachusetts Firefighters Injured In Blaze

The fire was so hot that it melted the siding on the house next door.

Three Worcester firefighters were hurt fighting an early-morning house fire Wednesday.

NewsCenter 5's Amalia Barreda reported that the blaze broke out at 1 Plain St. The second and third floors suffered heavy fire damage. The first floor was said to be recently renovated suffered water damage.

The fire was so hot that it melted the siding on the house next door. Fire officials said that three firefighters were hospitalized with minor injuries. Two residents were rescued, and two others made it out on their own.

Resident Robert Jette said that smoke detectors in his apartment woke him up.

"I am very lucky," he said. "It was like an adrenaline rush."

Jette said that he and his roommate were taken to the hospital and were treated for smoke inhalation.
