WIERSDALE, Fla. --
A fire in Marion County sent four people to the hospital, including two firefighters. The fire started early Thursday morning on Southeast 150th Avenue near Wiersdale.
Two firefighters were released from the hospital Thursday morning after they responded to a dangerous fire in Wiersdale in Marion County. In total, four people were injured during the blaze that destroyed the double-wide mobile home.
A woman living in the home got out safely. A man was found in living room unconscious, but still breathing. Both were airlifted to area hospitals in serious condition.
The two firefighters who were injured suffered from minor smoke inhalation. The couple's family dog was found dead inside the home.
The State Fire Marshal was on the scene Thursday morning investigating the cause of the fire. They think it may have started in the bedroom area.
Firefighters said a neighbor's call to 911 probably made the difference between life and death for the man found inside. Because of the quick call, fire crews were able to get to the location in under seven minutes.
