Ohio Firefighter Admits Stealing

The victim's family noticed the shortage in the fund.

LEBANON, Ohio --

A volunteer Mason firefighter admitted Wednesday to stealing money from a charity.

Authorities said Paul Lewis, 58, of Goshen, helped raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help pay for eye surgery for another person and oversaw the bank account created to accept donations.

Investigators said Lewis transferred about $1,100 from the victims account into his own in March 2001, and the victims family discovered the missing funds last year.

Lewis pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft and will be sentenced next month.
