Honolulu Fire Burns For Fourth Day

Fire crews made waters drops from helicopters.

HONOLULU --

Fire crews started the fourth day of fighting a brush fire in Waialua with waters drops from helicopters Wednesday.

The Department of Education also announced it has closed two public schools Wednesday, Waianae High School and Makaha Elementary Schoo, because of smoke drifting over the mountain.

The blaze has burned about 5,000 acres since it began Sunday.

Meanwhile, the city and state will be eligible for federal funds to cover much of the cost of fighting the fire.
