Collapse in Pennsylvania Leaves Seven Hurt

Some workers fell 2-20 feet when the roof collapsed.

CONESTOGA TOWNSHIP, Pa --

Seven people were injured when a roof under construction collapsed Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said 16 employees from King Construction in New Holland were working on a roof on the 100 block of River Hill Road in Conestoga Township, Lancaster County. They were reportedly building an indoor horse arena.

According to firefighters, the construction crew was putting up roof trusses. They toppled leading to a domino effect that brought down about one-third of them. Most of the workers were able to safely get out of the way but seven workers were injured, including two who fell 20 feet.

The injured were taken to Lancaster General Hospital.

Work on the barn has stopped until the investigation is complete.
