HOUSTON --

A firefighter was overcome by heat while battling a blaze at a southwest Houston nightclub on Wednesday, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Houston firefighters were called to the Arandas Night Club on Bellaire Boulevard near Rampart Street at about 4 a.m.

The fire started on the roof. Crews had to tear part of it off to knock down the flames.

Investigators said it appeared that someone flicked a cigarette onto the roof and wood shavings ignited.

The inside of the club was not affected.

One firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion. He received oxygen and fluids to aid in his recovery.

No injuries were reported.
