It happened at station No. 9 on Northeast 62nd Street in north Miami-Dade County as firefighters were leaving on a house fire call.

"One of our rescue trucks that were pulling out last, as the station was closed up, noticed an individual on the grounds of the fire department where they weren't supposed to be," said Ignatius Carroll of Miami Fire Rescue.

The suspect was scared off when emergency workers spotted him.

Firefighters said it was the fourth incident at the station No. 9. Two other robberies have been reported at different stations.

"Our guys are not only concerned about their safety, but for the equipment that we keep," said Carroll. "Somebody breaks in here and takes equipment and we don't know about it, then when we respond, it's not there and that could be the difference between saving a life or protecting someone's property."

Firefighters said personal items and computers have been stolen.

Anyone with information should call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
