TUKWILA, Wash. --

Fire that erupted in a Tukwila industrial building sent flames through gaping holes in the roof and dark smoke into the sky northeast of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Friday morning.

Chopper 7 video showed the fire growing in intensity from 9 a.m. to about 10:30 a.m., as it ate away at the building's roof while firefighters from ladder trucks sprayed water onto the blaze.

"This is an unbelievable fire," said Chopper 7 pilot Clark Stahl, as he orbited over the scene during live KIROTV.com coverage.

Highway 99 -- also known as International Boulevard -- was closed in the area, as was Military Road, Stahl said.

"It has been a relentless fire. Every time it seems like they're getting the upper hand, it grows," said KIRO 7 Eyewitness News anchor Julie Francavilla.

Firefighters on the ground shot streams of water through the building's windows, and black, sooty water rushed out.

There is no word on how the fire started.

Firefighters from Tukwila, SeaTac and Kent were at the scene, Legeros said.

There were no reports of injuries.
