NEWPORT, Ind.-- A firefighter in Vermillion County confessed Wednesday to setting the blaze that destroyed a Perrysville, Ind., craft store.

Adam Drummond, no age or address listed, was brought in Wednesday by sheriff's department investigators for questioning in connection with the June fire at Roosters and Red Geraniums in Perrysville, according to a press release.

While with the officers, Drummond -- a firefighter in Perrysville -- confessed to setting the fire on June 4 at the craft store.

Drummond was arrested on a felony charge of arson resulting in serious bodily harm. He is being held at the Vermillion County Jail with bond set at $100,000.

Prosecuting Attorney Nina Alexander said the charge is a Class A felony, punishable by an advisory sentence of 30 years in prison and a sentence range of 20-50 years.

Alexander said she planned to speak with the investigating officer in the case later today.

Drummond is scheduled to appear in court at 1:15 p.m. Friday.

The incident, according to the release, was determined to be arson soon after the fire by the Indiana State Fire Marshal's Office, which assisted the Vermillion County Sheriff's Department in the investigation as well as the Perrysville town marshal.

The fire was reported at Roosters and Red Geraniums, owned by Jim and Nancy Collins of Perrysville, about 3:44 a.m. June 4. The Cayuga Fire Department was called in to assist in battling the blaze.

During the fire, Cayuga firefighter Rick Lewis was seriously injured when he fell from a ladder while spraying water into an attic window in the building. He was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment.

Alexander said the injury to Lewis was factored into deciding the charge filed against Drummond.
