Man Dies, California Firefighter Hurt in House Fire

LOS ANGELES --

A man was killed and a firefighter was injured in a fire Sunday at a two-story West Adams area home, authorities said.

A man's body was found by firefighters while they were putting out the fire at 723 S. Manhattan Place, Los Angeles city fire spokeswoman d'Lisa Davies said.

A firefighter suffered a back injury after falling off the roof while battling the blaze.

Fire personnel dispatched to the scene at 5:18 a.m. had the fire knocked down by 5:37 a.m., Davies said.

The cause of the fire and damage estimates were under investigation, she said.
