JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --

A Westside woman was killed in a house fire before dawn Sunday on Shelby Avenue, Jacksonville firefighters said.

According to investigators, the fire that killed 73-year-old Elizabeth Faircloth as she slept was an accident.

Neighbors said they saw flames coming from the home and called police. By the time firefighters knocked down the fire and got inside, they found one person dead.

After searching the ruins, firefighters don't believe anyone else was in the home.

The fire marshal's office said it appears a lit cigarette may have sparked the blaze.
